Lets love our community <3

Sat 31.08: Book presentation
Sun 01.09: Introductory Workshop (with registration)

(deutsch unten)

What does accountability mean in your community or your social surroundings? What does it mean to you personally? What would you do if violence or something offensive happens among your friends, flatmates or within a group important to you? Are there ideas in your environment on how to handle experiences of sexual violence in a supportive way?
'Community Accountability’ is a concept developed by US-American organisations, such as Incite!, to hold persons accountable for their violent, oppressive behaviour. It's based on a transparent process organized by the community. It takes place without the involvement of the police and the criminal justice system in general, because they often support and perpetuate violence and oppression. Community Accountability aims to connect supportive work, prevention and educational work with political activism and perpetrator-centered methods.
In Saturday‘s reading Melanie Brazzel introduces us to the first edition of „What really makes us safe?“, edited by her, a book with contributions of different authors. Sunday's workshop, we learn more about the concept of "Community Accountability", also there will be some time for group work. (more on the book below)

Concerning the well-being of everyone
Talking about violence can be painful. We are there to take care for each other and we encourage all of you to take care for yourself as well. Let's create a space in which we can learn from each other in a supportive way.

About the book (translated by us)
"The toolkit is questioning the state's promise for security in cases of sexualized_parnter violence because state institutions such as prisons, borders or the police are (re)producing rather than ending violence. After New Year'sEvein Cologne white feminist and LGBTQI-mainstream organizations among others called for more "protection" by the state. But the alleged protection of marginalized groups is just another excuse for the judicial system and police continuously to act violently towards migrants and people of color. To show that the state facilitates this violence instead of ending it, this toolkit tackles the intersections of state violence and inter personal violence in Germany. If police and borders cannot guarantee our safety, what are the alternatives?
How can we create safety for ourselves?"

In Our Hands: Community Accountability bei sexualisierter Gewalt

Sa 31.08: Lesung

So 01.09: Einführungs-Workshop (mit Anmeldung

Was bedeutet Verantwortung in deiner ‘community’ oder deinem Umfeld?
